Welcome to the AGA Awards section.

The following guidelines are provided for your consideration in voting for the Game and Puzzle of the Year to be awarded by the Australian Games Association.

The nomination must be a game that was released in the calendar year of the award.

Previous Award winners

The Game of the Year

• Is the game challenging and thought provoking?
• Does it require the participants to make interesting & strategic decisions? Does the game have an engaging theme?
• Can the game be replayed over and over again without a predictible outcome?
• Does the game reward skill but still allow for an element of luck?
• Does the game have tension, drama and excitement that engages the participants?
• Does the game support 3 or more players? Are the rules clear and easy to understand?
• Does the game have attractive artwork and good quality components?
• Can the game be played to a conclusion in less than 90 minutes?
• Did your sales of the game justify its shelf space in your store?

The Puzzle of the Year

• Does the puzzle demand lateral thinking, logic, problem solving or deduction skills?
• Does the puzzle provide a series of continuous challenges for the participant(s)?
• Does the puzzle provide a sense of satisfaction when solved?
• Are the rules/ instructions clear and easy to understand?
• Is the puzzle sufficiently different to other puzzles previously on the market?
• Does the puzzle have attractive artwork and good quality components?
• Did your sales of the puzzle justify its shelf space in your store?
